UNESCO Multisectoral Regional office in the Arab States concluded on 29 June 2023 a Training of Trainers on English Language, bringing together exceptionally talented trainers from the Center for Educational Research and Development (CERD) in partnership with Amideast Lebanon and Education Cannot Wait.

Education remains a fundamental pillar of both global and national endeavors aimed at achieving sustainable development, safeguarding human rights, and promoting peace. However, the world is currently grappling with a pervasive learning crisis, and education systems are struggling to effectively adapt to the evolving demands of our changing world. During the Transforming Education Summit (TES), governments from more than 130 countries pledged to take immediate action to address these pressing challenges. In this context, teachers, who represent the most influential factor in determining learning outcomes, find themselves facing significant challenges. The persistent global teacher shortage and concerns regarding the role of teachers in an increasingly digital learning environment are among the numerous factors that are making the job of teaching increasingly challenging.

In 2014, the United Nations General Assembly designated July 15th as World Youth Skills Day, acknowledging the crucial role of equipping young people with skills for employment, decent work, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development. The theme for World Youth Skills Day 2023 is "Skilling teachers, trainers, and youth for a transformative future." This theme underscores the essential role played by educators, including teachers and trainers, in equipping youth with skills to successfully transition into the labour market and actively contribute to their communities and societies.

أصدر المكتب الإقليمي للدول العربيّة في منظّمة العمل الدولية و المكتب الإقليمي لليونيسف للشرق الأوسط و شمال إفريقيا و مؤسسة التدريب الأوربية تقريرًا تحت عنوان "تمكين النجاح: دعم الشباب في منطقة الشرق الأوسط و شمال إفريقيا في الانتقال من التعلم إلى العمل اللائق"". يدعو التقرير دول منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا إلى الاستثمار في التعليم وتحديث أنظمة التدريب للشباب.

أطلق وزير التربية والتعليم في الأردن، السيّد عزمي محافظة، استراتيجيّة إدارة الأزمات والمخاطر لوزارة التربية والتعليم في الأردن (2023-2027)، تهدف هذه الإستراتيجيّة إلى ضمان استمرار نظام التعليم في الأردن في توفير بيئة تعليميّة آمنة ومأمونة لجميع المتعلّمين واستمراريّة التعليم الجيّد حتى في مواجهة التحديّات مثل الكوارث الطبيعية أو النزاعات أو الأوبئة.

في 17 حزيران/ يونيو 2022، اعتمد ممثلون من أكثر من 140 دولةً إطار عمل مراكش في المؤتمر الدوليّ السابع لتعلّم وتعليم الكبار حول كيفية تحقيق الحقّ في التعلم مدى الحياة لجميع البالغين. وقد التزمت البلدان التي اعتمدت هذا الإطار بزيادة مشاركة الكبار في التعلم والاستثمار في تعلم الكبار وتعليمهم. استضافت المملكة المغربية واليونسكو المؤتمر وحضره أكثر من 1000 مشارك، بما في ذلك رؤساء دول ووزراء تعليم وممثلون رفيعو المستوى للأمم المتحدة.

بسبب التداعيات القاسية الّتي أصابت عملية التعليم والتعلم بسبب جائحة كورونا، ازداد معدّل فقر التعلم بمقدار الثلث في البلدان المنخفضة والمتوسّطة الدخل، حيث يعجز 70% من الأطفال في سن 10 سنوات عن فهم نص مكتوب بسيط، وفقًا لتقرير نشره البنك الدوليّ ويتناول الشواهد والأدلّة على العوامل التي تؤثّر على تعلّم اللغة العربيّة، ويقترح مسارًا للمساعدة في إرشاد بلدان المنطقة في جهودها لتعزيز نتائج التعلم.

في إطار متابعة مقرّرات مؤتمر طشقند، نظّم مكتب اليونسكو المتعدّد القطاعات في الدول العربيّة بالشراكة مع هيئة الشارقة للتعليم الخاص (SPEA)، وأكاديمية الشارقة للتعليم (SEA)، وبالتعاون مع المجلس الأعلى لشؤون الأسرة، ومكتب الشارقة صديقة للطفل مؤتمرًا إقليميًّا لرعاية وتربية الطفولة المبكرة في الدول العربيّة لمدّة يومين في الشارقة – الإمارات العربية المتحدة من 4 إلى 5 حزيران/يونيو 2023.
