يحتفلُ العالمُ باليومِ الدولي لمحوِ الأمية، الذي تنظّمه اليونسكو في 8 سبتمبر/أيلول من كل عام، لتسليطِ الضوءِ على الدّور الأساسي لمحوِ الأميةِ في تمكينِ الأفرادِ وتعزيزِ التفاهمِ المتبادلِ بينَ المجتمعاتِ المتنوّعة. ويأتي موضوعُ اليومِ الدولي لمحوِ الأمّية لعام 2024 تحتَ شعارِ " تعزيزِ التعليمِ متعدَّد اللغاتِ من أجلِ التفاهمِ المتبادلِ والسلام ".

أطلقتِ اليونسكو في مقرّها الرّئيسي بباريس فعالياتِ أسبوع التعلم الرقمي 2024 من 2 إلى 5 سبتمبر/أيلول تحت شعار "توجيه التكنولوجيا لخدمة التعليم". هذا الحدثُ البارزُ ضمّ لفيفاً من وزراءِ التعليمِ من الدولِ العربية والعالم، إلى جانبِ خبراءِ التعليم الرائدين والمتَخصِّصين في التكنولوجيا، لاستكشاف الإمكانياتِ التحويلية للأدواتِ الرقمية في التعليم.

لقد أدّت جائحةُ كوفيد-19 إلى اضطرابٍ شديد في التعليمِ وتطويرِ المهارات، ممّا أثّر بشكلٍ خاص على العاملينَ في القطّاع غيرِ الرّسمي في الاقتصاداتِ منخفضةِ ومتوسطة الدخل. يُبرزُ هذا التقرير الذي نشرتهُ اليونسكو في عام 2024، التراجُعَ الكبيرَ في نتائجِ التعلمِ، وزيادةِ معدلاتِ التسرّبِ المدرسي، حيث كانت الآثار الأكثر حدةً من نصيبِ المتعلمين من خلفيات محرومة، حتى في البلدانِ ذات الدخل المرتفع.

معَ بدايةِ العامِ الدِّراسِي الجَديد، تتَّجهُ الأَنظارُ نحوَ التّعليمِ كَمصدرٍ للإلهامِ والتحوُّل في لبنانَ والمنطقةِ العربِيّة. فَفي الوقتِ الّذي يتّسمُ بِالتَّغيُّراتِ السَّريعةِ والتَّحَدِّيات المُتَزَايدَة، يَبقى التَّعليمُ أداةً قَويَّةً لإِعَادَةِ صِياغةِ مُستقبلِنا، فَهو لَم يَعدْ مُقتَصِرَاً عَلى الكُتُبِ المدرسية؛ بل يَشمَلُ اليومَ تَعزيزَ ثَقَافةِ الفُضُولِ والصُّمودِ والابتِكار.

"Green School Quality Standard: Greening Every Learning Environment" offers a groundbreaking framework for integrating sustainability into schools and learning spaces. As climate change increasingly threatens our planet, this standard emphasizes the pivotal role of educational institutions in driving climate action and fostering sustainability.

Published by UNESCO in June 2024, this new Guidance is designed to help countries, schools, and educators adopt a holistic and action-oriented approach to climate change education. Responding to young people's calls for a curriculum that emphasizes climate change and sustainability, it offers a framework with clear learning outcomes for all age groups, from 5-year-olds to adults.

UNESCO Multisectoral Regional Office in Beirut held an online Regional Consultative Meeting for the Arab Region on 3-4 September 2024 to support the preparation of the final document for the 2024 Global Education Meeting, which will take place on 31 October and 1 November 2024 in Brazil. This consultative meeting brought together member states, multilateral organizations, donors, teachers, the private sector, as well as youth and learners. The outcome was a 3-page summary document that outlined the discussions, including the main points and lessons learned at both the regional and sub-regional levels.

On 28 August 2024, UNESCO Cairo, in collaboration with the Regional Centre for Adult Education (ASFEC), hosted a series of groundbreaking workshops designed to advance literacy, lifelong learning, and digital skills. These workshops brought together master literacy educators and key stakeholders from civil society, the Ministry of Social Solidarity, UNESCO Community Learning Centers, and the Adult Education Authority.
