The report "Transforming Education Towards SDG 4: A Global Survey on Country Actions" provides a comprehensive overview of efforts by countries to reshape their education systems in line with SDG 4, which aims to ensure inclusive, equitable, and quality education for all. It outlines key messages on how education can drive sustainable development and highlights transformative pathways, focusing on areas such as inclusion, equity, gender equality, teacher development, digital transformation, and the recovery from COVID-19.

At the heart of every empowered girl lies a dedicated educator guiding her towards success, freedom, and self-actualization. UNESCO’s ongoing mission to transform education worldwide is rooted in the belief that teachers are the catalysts for change, especially when it comes to promoting gender equality and fostering environments where girls can thrive.

This publication marks the inaugural release in a series of annual reports by the UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS), emphasizing the critical role of timely, accurate, and high-quality education data in shaping effective policies. Reliable data serves as the foundation for informed decision-making, enabling policymakers to address the complex challenges within the education sector. The publication, released in 2024, equips policymakers, researchers, and analysts with a comprehensive resource for understanding educational systems by providing essential insights that align with the targets of Sustainable Development Goal 4.

On 22-23 September 2024, UNESCO, in collaboration with Yemen's Ministry of Higher Education and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), organized a two-day workshop in Aden to address the challenges and opportunities in Yemen's higher education sector amid global transformations. University presidents from across Yemen gathered to share successful international experiences and explore pathways towards developing a comprehensive higher education strategy for the country. The discussions aimed to create a roadmap for strengthening higher education in Yemen, even amidst ongoing difficulties.

On 25 September 2024, UNESCO engaged with Palestine's Ministry of Education and partners to develop an education sector strategy, focusing on creating safe learning environments. A few days later, on 30 September 2024, UNESCO Multisectoral Regional Office in Beirut participated in a workshop organized by the Social and Economic Survey Research Institute (SESRI) at Qatar University, discussing how the Qatar Education Study 2022 contributes to the global Sustainable Development Agenda. Both efforts reflect UNESCO's commitment to improving education systems in diverse contexts.

يقدم "معيار الجودة الخاصّ بالمدرسة الخضراء بهدف جعل كلّ بيئةٍ تعليميّةٍ خضراء" إطارَاً رائداً لدمج الاستدامة في المدارسِ والمساحات التعليمية. يهدّدُ تغيُّر المناخِ كوكبَنا ومستقبلنا. تُعتبرُ المدارسُ والمُؤَسَّسَاتُ التعليميّةُ الأخرى أماكنَ أساسيّة لتسريعِ العملِ المناخيّ بين المتعلّمين والمجتمعات المحليّة، من خلال تمكينِ المعلمين والمتعلّمين من فهمِ تغيُّر المناخ في سياقهم الخاصّ، فيُساهمون في جعلِ المجتمعاتِ أكثرَ استدامةً ومقاومةً لتغيّر المناخ.

أصدرت اليونسكو في يونيو/حزيران 2024 دليلاً جديدَاً يهدفُ إلى مساعدةِ الدولِ والمدارسِ والمعلّمين في اعتمادِ مقاربةٍ شاملةٍ في عمليةِ التعليم في مجال التغيّر المناخي. تستجيبُ هذه الإرشاداتُ التوجيهيّة لدعواتِ الشبابِ لاتّباعِ مقاربةٍ شاملة تجاهَ تغيُّر المناخِ والاستدامةِ في المناهج التّعليميّة. وهي تحدّدُ لغةً مشتركةً حولَ كيفيّةِ انعكاسِ جودة تغيُّر المناخ والاستدامة في المنهج التعليميّ من خلالِ تحديد مخرجات التعلّم المتوقّعة لكلّ فئةٍ عمريّةٍ من سنّ 5 سنوات وحتّى الفئة العمريّة 18+.

بدأت اليونسكو، بالتعاونِ مع اللجنةِ الوطنيةِ القطرية للتربية والثقافة والعلوم، ووزارة التربية والتعليم العالي القطرية، ومؤسسة "التعليم فوق الجميع"، في 2 و3 سبتمبر/أيلول 2024، مشاوراتٍ وطنية استمرّت لمدة يومين. تم تنظيم هذا الحدث لدفعِ الالتزاماتِ الوطنيّة التي تمّ التعهدُ بها في قمة تحويلِ التعليم، ولإطلاقِ استراتيجية وزارة التعليم والتعليم العالي للفترة 2024-2030.

في 28 أغسطس/آب 2024، استضافت اليونسكو بالقاهرة، بالتعاون مع المركز الإقليمي لتعليمِ الكبار (أسفك) سلسلةً من ورشِ العملِ الرائدةِ التي تهدفُ إلى تعزيزِ محوِ الأميّة، والتعلّم مدى الحياة، والمَهارات الرّقمية. ضمّت هذه الوُرش نخبةً من معَلِّمي مَحوِ الأمية وخبراءِ المجتمعِ المدني، إلى جانب ممثلين من وزارةِ التّضامن الاجتماعي، ومَراكزِ التعلُّم المجتمَعي التابعةِ لليونسكو، وهيئةِ تعليمِ الكبار.
